Boral Blue Circle® General Purpose Cement

Boral Cement’s Blue Circle® General Purpose Cement exceeds the requirements for a Type GP cement as specified in the Australian Standard AS 3972 (General Purpose and Blended Cements).

  • Traditional Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) conforming to AS 3972 Type GP.
  • Suitable for use by both professionals and home handypersons.

Compatibility

Blue Circle® General Purpose Cement can be blended with other cements complying with AS 3972 (General Purpose and Blended Cements) or with fly ash complying with AS 3582.1 (Supplementary Cementitious Materials – Fly Ash). Note that such blends will have different properties compared to the original product. It is also compatible with admixtures that comply with AS 1478.1 (Admixtures for Concrete, Mortar, and Grout). Admixtures should be used following the manufacturer’s guidelines.

Colour

Blue Circle® General Purpose Cement has a typical grey colour. For projects where a consistent colour is crucial, it is recommended to use the same type of cement throughout the entire project.

  • Blue Circle® Builders Cement is a versatile alternative to Blue Circle® General Purpose (GP) Cement and can replace it in most applications. Some adjustments to the mix design may be necessary depending on the application
  • It is specifically produced for use in areas such as brickwork and blockwork masonry, construction mortars, solid cement rendering, bedding and pointing of roof tiles etc. Strength at an early age may be slightly lower than GP cements but with appropriate curing, there are advantages in higher later age strengths
